FX8320 @ 4.2GHZ~1.325v O.C.
ASUS M5A997X
CORSAIR H60
GSKILL 1600Mhz DDR3 (16GB)
2 x Gigabyte GTX770 Windforce 3x 4Gb SLI
Corsair CX750M

Display: 2 x Insignia 40in LED 1080p flat screen Tv's (Still saving for a third)

So.... I have no problems maxing out games. I have 60hz monitor's so vsync is usually on. On the most graphic intensive games GPU's are both at 98% usage and 70-80% power when SLI is applicable. I have yet to see the CPU top 70% usage (avg. reported by Windows resource monitor). I tuned my O.C. as per instruction of a previous thread and the help of an OC manual for AMD I found online.

All power saving options disabled
CPU LLC set to High
NB LLC set to High
Multiplier at 20.0
CPU Voltage on Auto

Temps are good: (monitored using HWinfo)
CPU core @ 30-40C while gaming 55C while running Prime95.
Socket temp @ 55C while gaming 75C under Prime95.
GPU's @ 60-70C while gaming.

The problem is on some games I get a little bit of stutter. AC4, Crysis 3, Wolfenstein and Shadow of Mordor get random FPS drops and a stutter.

Upgrading to Intel chip is a possibility in the spring but I really dont want to have to spend 500-700 bucks for a small increase in performance if the problem can be resolved with current hardware.

Would faster RAM help?
Did I overlook something in my O.C?

Power supply was a thought as well but I dont know what to look for to support my suspision.

Sounds like it could be microstutter. Does it happen if you turn off SLI?

Your RAM is plenty, there's enough of it and it's fast enough, as long as it's not CL15 RAM or something.

It could be the CPU but you'd have to look at peak usage, not averages. Check if CPU usage ever reaches 100% in these situations.

Another often overlooked possibility is that the game is loading assets from the hard drive, causing stutter because HDD's are slow. It's often accompanied by pop-in. It doesn't happen often, but I had it happen a lot in the Tropico games. It disappeared when I put the game on a SSD.

Hmmm. I have a Samsung 256gb 840 PRO SSD that I instal the games I am currently playing on to. Is there software that will monitor my CPU usage other than MSIAfterburner (It's OSD server screws with my PC for some reason)?

Also, yes it happens when I turn off SLI.

Could there be any background apps that cause the problem? How do I check if that is the case?

First of all I would get a decent 850w power supply.

CX series is very poor line from Corsair.

Background apps could cause the problem, but you'd see 100% CPU or RAM usage in that case. I'd be very surprised if you'd hit 100% RAM usage, unless you're doing rendering in the background or something.

Doesn't Resource Monitor or Task Manager show a graph? If it does, just leave it running while gaming and Alt-Tab out of the game after a lag spike. Then look up the graphs and see if the CPU hits 100%.

Im going to hold off on the power supply till I check CPU usage during lag spikes. This PSU I have has 62amps on the 12v rail but that is exactly the same amount required by nvidia for SLI 770. I want to find out if there is anything else before I spend 100$ on another PSU. Next thing I know I have a stock pile of parts collecting dust in the basement. I found a free program online "PerfMonitor," to monitor and log cpu performance. I will let you know what I find.
