The latest generation of graphics cards from both AMD and Nvidia have DX12 support.

But when will we see the first DX12 game? What new features will DX12 include? Do you think Doom 4 will be the first PC game to support DX12?

Don't know, DX12 is still half a year away. But I am curious as to how more efficient gaming will be with the new way DX12 optimizes cpu load.

A quick Google search...

http://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2014/03/20/directx-12/

Quote:
DirectX 12 is, of course, all about improving performance by cutting CPU overhead and giving developers more direct control of the hardware. There was talk of "lower level abstraction than ever before" and "unprecedented performance." Microsoft showed DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 versions of the latest 3DMark release running on a Core i7-4770K-powered system. In the DX11 version, most of the CPU load was on a single thread, and the other cores were underused. In the DX12 version, workload distribution was even across the cores, and overall CPU utilization was down 50%.

I think this is very interesting for performance and consumption / heat...

Which hardware will be DX12-compatible? AMD said all of its Graphics Core Next-based Radeon GPUs (i.e. Radeon HD 7000 series and newer) will work with the new API. Nvidia pledged support for all Fermi, Kepler, and Maxwell (i.e. GeForce GTX 400 series and newer) parts.

Seen the amount of problems 970 have...this is another good news, as all previous graphic cards will work without issue with DX12 except the very old ones...

Microsoft said DirectX 12 will premiere in next year's crop of holiday-season games. A preview release of the API is coming later this year.

There is quite a long time before we'll see them on most PC's... however I want to add that Microsoft will release DX12 with the preview of Windows 10, even if they have specified that this is not even close to the final release... but good that developer can start playing with it...

Do you think Doom 4 will support DX12?

Besides CPU load optimization, do you think DX12 will more evenly distribute the GPU loads on SLI and CrossfireX setups?

GPU is more a matter of Nvidia and AMD writing good driver than DX12... besides I see the tendency to build small form factor PC (finally) so I don't see a huge need for SLI which is already performing ok IMHO.

Like TechyInAZ said there is far too much time ahead... things can change many time before Q3 / Q4 2015 and hopefully that will be the release of CV1 of Oculus which surely is going to give a massive push to the PC market.
