wired internet issues

Hi guys, im having trouble with my internet. every time the phone rings i get dc'ed from the internet. I have a filter for this but it would mean moving my router downstairs where my phone is (i cannot move the phone upstairs as it is needed downstairs). Would I be able to get wired connection through the phone socket thingy in my wall? what can i do to get the best connection if i move my router downstairs?

First try to put the filter in the phone socket, then try it in the router socket, see if either solves the problem. Ask the phone company of you can use a separate filter on the two outlets. If all of that fails, then consider getting a cordless phone downstairs and the base upstairs.
