Hello all,

i am asking for your help in order to solve my issue.

First of all im am posting my pc specs

Processor 1 ID = 0
Name Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
2 installed modules of ram 2gb 9-9-9-24 each
Memory type DDR3
Module format UDIMM
Manufacturer (ID) Corsair (7F7F9E00000000000000)
Size 2048 MBytes
Max bandwidth PC3-10700H (667 MHz)
Part number CM3X2G1333C9
Serial number 00000194
Number of banks 8
Nominal Voltage 1.50 Volts

Mainboard Model G41MT-D3V Gigabyte

Now, first of all i tried a single 8gb 1600mhz module but later on i understood that my MB wont support 8gb in one slot. PC DIDNT BOOT

Then i changed the module and got 2x4gb 1600mhz and the clocking for them is 11-11-11-24.
PC DIDNT BOOT

I really cant understand if the problem is the clocking.

I tried to change the clocking in BIOS to 11-11-11-24 but the pc didnt boot again.
So before i get the modules back to the store, do you think i should do anything in my bios to get the ram working?

your mobo has 2 ram slots each capable of utilizing a 4gb stick @ 800,1066 or OC'ed @1333, nothing faster then 1333MHz.
for max support get a 2x4gb 1066MHz ram sticks and put them in 9-9-9 timing

Timings have nothing to do here. You may need BIOS update to make it work. 1600MHz RAM would work but at 1066MHz initally and at 1333MHz when on XMP.

Thank you guys for your answers.

@diabedo i was told that 1.6ghz would actually work. Im ok with working at 1ghz but my pc wont even boot... in addition after checking with Gigabyte i have the latest bios update.

ok well let me ask. how are you sure this is a ram issue? has the PC ever booted? did you just upgrade your ram?

What's your FSB at? It needs to be at least as high as the freq of the DRAM. AM guessing your mobo defaults to 800, so it's possible the DRAM is set for a default of 1066, in which case your FSB needs to be raised to at least 1066
