Hey guys

Yesterday I had the problem that my PC couldn't start. The error message "...please insert proper boot device..." occurred. My BIOS does not show my SSD.

Today, I picked up another SATA cable. When I compared them to each other, I noticed, that the old had something more in it (?) The new cable wouldn't even fit in the connector on the SSD. It turned out, that the thing inside the cable was a plastic spacer for the connection on the SSD. (This plastic thing does lead the cable to fit on the pins).

Is there a way to fix this? I use this drive as my primary one (and only one). And unfortunately, I haven't done a backup of the drive....

I would appreciate it, if somebody could help me.

best regards,
Vincent

The broken bit in the SATA data port. As others have indicated, the SSD is now dead. You could contact the SSD manufacturer's customer support folks and see if they can repair the SSD for you and send back (hopefully with your data). Worth a shot.

Good luck!

You probably can't make a perm fix for that particular drive.

Possibly, if you are really, really good, resolder everything back together, just to get any critical data off.
Can't hurt to try, because as it sits now...it is 100% broken. Trying a fix might mean only 98% broken.

Or....buy a new drive, install the OS and applications, recover your critical personal data from your backup. Oh wait....
