Hi I have an older hp desktop that ran windows vista, I was unable to obtain a windows 7 upgrade when microsoft figured that vista was crap and gave everyone a free upgrade, it appeared that I purchased my pc a couple weeks after the cut off for that offer.

anyways I have just recently upgraded to windows seven, 8 gb ram from 5, Processor AMD Phenom(tm) 9600B Quad-Core Processor, 2300 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
and added an evga 210 gepforce graphics card over the onboard on

Let me get to the point! I have been getting BSOD ever since i upgraded all of this, so I re-installed 7 clean install 3 times now updated about 150 updates via microsoft.

I have tried everything to trace down the issue like memtest, I did 8 passes and no errors on ram,
I took out the video card to see if that was the issue and I still had a BSOD so I put it back in.

To make this story short I am tired of chasing this problem and want to replace my motherboard with something that will except my processor and ram,

my current mobo is the m2n68-la narra3 bios 5.14 i tried to find a bios update but after weeks trying to chase something down on hap websight or asus websight i found nothing. whatever I am not even trippin on this machine anymore and just want to get another mobo with a good bios.

could someone help me figure out what I should get for this
here is my mobo link http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01...

here is my pc link

added upgrades to this pc
i am running windows 7 home, I have 8GB 4X2GB DDR2-800MHz PC2-6400 240PIN and the AMD Phenom X4 2.3GHz 9600B Quad Core CPU Processor HD960BWCJ4BGH Business Class
and the geoforce 210 graphics card

I know this is a tall order to figure all this out and but if anyone can suggest a mobo that would except my stuff I would be greatful

thanks jeff

When do you get a BSOD? While gaming? Just during casual use? At startup?

You can narrow down the issue causing the BSOD by quickly writing down the error code at the bottom of the BSOD. It's usually something like 0CX0000421 or similar to that. Google that code and it will tell you what caused the BSOD.

It may not be your motherboard, so it's best to identify the issue before replacing parts.

I received 2 BSOD while watching YouTube videos, the first BSOD was 0x0000007f dxgmms1.sys+d87e and just now received the 0x0000003b ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0 it's like I said the bsod is very random and points to alot of different issues one here is direct x and the other is ntoskrnl.exe , but I have also received a bsod in the nvlddmkm which is Nvidia stuff.

I have removed the geoforce 210 video card and still received a BSOD error so I reinstalled it,, I have seen pop ups stating that I had bad pool headers, and i have had something stating PFN_LIST_CORRUPT Blue Screen of Death

You see I have soo many different random issues and I am sooooo tired of trying to track it down and thats why I was thinking about updating my MoBO .

I did the ramtest with 8 passes and no problems, but the ram I bought off ebay was from china , idunno could it be giving me problems although the ramtest didn't show any issues, I had 5gb ram in here as stock and the ram was 3 x 1GB 240p PC2-6400 CL6 8c 128x8 DDR2-800 1Rx8 1.8V UDIMM NOB, Micron, CHH, MT8HTF12864AY-800E1 and 1 ram stick
2GB 240p PC2-6400 CL6 16c 128x8 DDR2-800 2Rx8 1.8V UDIMM RFB W/ MIX Label, Hynix, CCK, HYMP125U64CP for a total of 5gb,
I still have this ram and am thinking about putting it back in to see if that helps...

the bsod is usally when I have a video going and am surfing the net and doing several random things with tabs open and vid going ect, could the ram be glitching out

Test the RAM individually. One stick at a time and see if it boots up. If there's a problem with one of the sticks you'll likely see issues before it even boots if it's the only stick available in the system. Before you test each stick, make sure the voltage is set correctly on the RAM. If they run at 1.8V, make sure the BIOS is set to run the RAM at 1.8V and not lower or higher. Chances are it's already set properly, but just make sure. The 07f error is pointing toward RAM, so test each stick one at a time. If it boots, run a youtube video and see if there's any problem. Do that for each stick. My suspicion tells me one or more of those sticks is not going to boot the system.

thanks job creator I ended up taking out the 4 sticks of RAM that I purchased on ebay from china, I ended up putting the original 5 gigs of ram the system came with back in and have yet to see any issues with blue screen of death I have not tried to boot the system with one stick at a time although it would be interesting to see if that is the issue all I can say right now is that I remove the RAM I purchased and put the original and its running fine thanks a lot

Job creator I did what you suggested and the machine booted and played youtube ect with all sticks just fine, I cant explain it, so I ended up using one of my old 2gb sticks and using three of the new cheapo 2 gb sticks for 8 total and the machine is running great, no bsod in days, I wonder though if i put that fourth cheapo stick in with the other three it would act up again, idunno but for now its running fine so i am not going to mess with it any farther.

thx again for your input.

It's possible, though rare, that the 4th memory slot on your motherboard is actually the problem. Just out of curiosity and in the interest of actually finding out wth was wrong, I would try to boot with one stick in each memory slot to see if one of the slots doesn't act up. Good to hear everything is running smooth, though.
