Hello everybody!
I'd need some advice on how to upgrade my pc, its configuration is as it follows:

Case: HAF 932
Motherboard: Asus Rampage II Gene
CPU: i7 920
VGA: Radeon HD5870
Memory: Team Xtreem DDR3 2000mhz CL9 3x2GB
Power supply: Right now I can't remember which one was it and until monday I have no way to check it out. Anyway it was a good one when I bought it (5 years ago) and with at least 650W
Noctua NH-D14

So I'd like to get the GTX970 G1 and I'll probably change my monitor with the Asus PG278Q ROG (so 1440p), do you guys think that I can only change the VGA or it'd be better to change the motherboard and CPU as well in order to get better performances?
Also could I, in the future, do a GTX970 SLI? Obviously I'd need to upgrade the power supply in this case

Thanks to anyone who answers!

A 5 year old 650W PSU should be fine for 1 GTX 970 (maybe not though) but I wouldn't risk it with 2. I would upgrade everything really, except maybe the case and the CPU cooler.

Yes, you should upgrade the GPU, but don't get the G1 as it's a ripoff. The Asus Strix is more bang for buck.
What brand is the PSU? It might be able to run 2 970s.

It's a Corsair TX 750W
So you think I could only upgrade the GPU without touching the motherboard&CPU? Because I was thinking of changing them as well and getting an i5 4690K, would I have a noticeable improvement or can I avoid that?

Your CPU, mobo, and PSU are ALL fine, no need to change them for the next year or two. I would suggest you get the Asus GTX 970 Strix and some more RAM.
