I have a Kingston HyperX Blu 8Gb sitting around because my motherboard(asus p5g41t-m lx3) can only read 8Gb at dual channel ..so it is still waiting for upgrade from my C2D E4600 with 2Gb RAM (hopefully by new year).

Now, thinking about the future, should I install 64bit OS on my previous 160Gb HDD to avoid the trouble? and anyway, I'd be mining with it. Lastly, is it possible to override the mobo to read the 8Gb memory stick by bios or something?

And the asus p5g41t-m lx3 doesn't work with only the 8GB stick? 8GB in single channel is way better then 2GB in dual. :-)
For the 8GB you will need the 64 bit anyway, because 32 bit is limited to 4GB.

I would recommend 2 x 4GB of RAM and a 64 bit version of windows 7.

no..if I install the 8Gb module in either slot, it won't even post. RIght now, I have 2Gb on single channel.

It only supports up to 8 GB. So you cant use an 8 GB stick in 1 slot anyway. Only 2x4, if you want 8 GB

So no you cant override it. This mobo only supports up to 8 GB using both slots

So if you want more than 8 GB you'll have to buy another mobo and maybe another CPU
