So I'm about to buy my RAM for my new build, but I don't know which ram to choose. Should I go with Gskill Ares or Gskill Ripjaws? Both are DDR3 1600, Cas 9, Timing 9-9-9, but the ripjaws is 9-9-9-24-2N while the ares is 9-9-9-24. So I'm not sure which one to get, can anyone help me? Don't tell me to get the cheaper one, as they are the same price. I also heard that the ripjaws is optimized for intel and will give me slower speed and timings on an AMD build, and that I have to set it in manually. Is this true?

Gskill Ripjaws:

Gskill Ares:

Asus M5A97 R2.0
Gigabyte r7 260x (already bought)
WD Black 7200rpm 1TB drive (bought)
Corsair CX430m 80+ Bronze PSU (bought)
NZXT S340

Doesn't really matter. However, if you plan to install a large cooler, Ares with low profile heat spreaders should have less chances to interfere with the cooler.

I plan to use the stock cooler. But is there a difference between the RAM? And will there be any problems to consider?

Both are good sticks, use different binned ICs (memory chips), I've found the RJs to be a little stronger than the Ares (more OC headroom) ;)

Thanks for answering, but will I encounter any problems with the ram when using it on a AMD build? Sorry if that's a stupid question, but this is my first time building and I wanna make sure.

No, actually I prefer the RJs and their Sniper line on AMD builds
