There seems to be thousands out there that are either very expensive or look like they are gonna be a problem with probably getting malware or something bad. Any ideas for a good blu ray software for pal blu rays?

Thanks

Check to see if VLC will work for you. Otherwise, I probably look towards these pay-for Software Programs. Anything else (free or otherwise) I wouldn't trust.

After I bought a Blu-ray burner I found I could create them but my software wouldn't play them. I searched high and low but only found a codec for Windows Media Player, that did work, but not very well. No menus at all, it would just auto-play the disk. I ended up buying Nero 2014 Platinum, since I was using Nero 2010 Standard version as it was. I was able to find it on sale at Amazon for about $35 (It's currently $55). If you can find a good deal on it, Nero Platinum is the only version(of Nero) that will both burn and play Blu-Rays.

If you don't have a burner, just a player, I hear PowerDVD is a good player.

I've had no major issues with PowerDVD (sometimes difficult to find the free upgrade for newer Blu-Ray discs).

downloaded free trials of a few established blu ray software and some films wouldnt play (even on power dvd). looking at the cost of the hit and miss software and it being a gamble with some films not working, i think i will just spend less on a actual 3d blu ray player itself as its mainly for watchng films on projector. i just thought it would be better on pc due to specs. thanks for help though as always guys.

The first thing you’ll need is an external Blu-ray drive. There are several available including models from Buffalo, Samsung and Pioneer. Here is a introduction about this http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/the-best-external-blu-...
By the way, it mentioned some Blu-ray player software like PowerDVD. Macgo is an alternatiove which is a lot cheaper and easier. It's also available on CNET http://download.cnet.com/Macgo-Windows-Blu-ray-Player/3...
