Looking to upgrade and seeking suggestions/advice.

This is the current GPU I have in my PC. It's an old one I got back in late 2010.
I'm looking for some suggestions as to what I could get to upgrade it.
My price range is between $100-$250 and I do a good bit of gaming, but nothing extremely intense.

The 970 is the best price/performance at the moment, but outside of your budget, worth considering for longevity though.

The 960 should be out soon (although we arent sure when) and that should be around $250.

In the mean time, the R9 280x is probably the best card you will get for $250, or this R9 290 is just outside your budget but a bargain really for the performance:
