So I have been playing counter-strike since beta which is a long time. During my on and off experience with it I have gone through many computers. About 2 years ago i built this PC to play CS GO and it works great however I am noticing that others with the same spec's on their PC have a bit more (Steady) fps and higher.

Intel i7 3770k @ 3.50 Ghz 3.90 Ghz (not sure if factory OC'ed bought from cyberpower)
G.Skill 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 800MHz (11-11-11-28) PC3-12800 (800 MHz)
Nvidia 660 GTX 2047MB

That is my PC info at the moment.
I have no idea how to overclock or what piece of hardware to overclock to actually see some performance gain.

The Video Settings are low since i play competitively, my nvidia card is setup fine. I am even running at a pretty low reso 1280x.

Any idea's or tips or explanations on steps to take to overclock and what should be over clocked.

I would appreciate any help guys.

Other than buying a new graphics card there's little you can do.

I suppose you could overclock your GTX660 but it probably would give you no more than 10% at most depending on the card.

I can't speak to why others with same specs would get better performance though that could be down to different settings, exaggerating, or perhaps a better GTX660.

I assume you have the latest NVidia drivers.

Yes i do have the latest. You think the 660 is the problem? At the time (2 years ago) the 660 was raved about.

With that graphics card on low settings and that low resolution you really shouldn't have any problems, what kind of fps are you getting in game?

I am getting decent fps around 200 but it bounces insanely fast thats my problem. I see others with almost same setup and they bounce but not nearly as fast. My fps is constantly moving so fast i can barely read the numbers down to 150 up to 300 down to 120 etc.

i recommend limiting the fps to something like 120 "fps_max 120" u won't notice any difference , but lower the frames generated +more overall PC performance due less generated graphics , i got the 770 and i got issues with cs:go , but after lowering the fps , you may notice an improvement .
this site might help you abit , dont take everything written , me personally took the advice about lowering graphic setting to low and keeping few to normal ,works good for me
