I just bought Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 8GB DDR3-1866 (PC3-14900) CL10 Dual Channel Desktop Memory Kit (Two 4GB Memory Modules). I'm noticing that my computer is constantly using 3-4 gigs and that when running other stuff it gets to 6-7 and heaven forbid i use photoshop.. Anyway is this good ram? is there something im missing here?

More about : bought ballistix ram

Did this change just happen only after you bought the RAM? Typically it woud never be the RAM's fault for while a lot is used, it is usually software or virus-based issue.

You should check your Task Manager for anything that you don't want running in the background. When Photoshop is running, it's normal for your RAM to be capped out because Photoshop is trying to use the most it can to make all the operations needed as quickly as possible. That RAM is of good quality and there isn't really "bad ram" out there nowdays. What makes the difference is Timings, frequency, not capacity.

Usage isn't tied to the DRAM proper, check and clean up start up of uneeded items, run a virus and a malware scan
