I would like to play some PC games using this laptop (HP15-g037cy Notebook) I'm getting as a gift, but I looked up some reviews of the graphic card (AMD Radeon HD 8210) that have lead me to believe that this computer will require an upgraded graphics card in order for me to get better quality out of the games.

Here are the Specs:

HP 15-g037cy Notebook

  • Operating System• Windows 8.1 with Bing

    Processor•AMD Dual-Core E1-2100 Accelerated Processor

    Processor Speed•1.0 GHz

    Processor Cache• 1MB L2

    Cache Memory• 4GB DDR3L SDRAM (1DIMM)

    Video Graphics• AMD Radeon™HD 8210 graphics

    Hard Drive• 500GB 5400RPM hard drive

Is it possible for me to upgrade the graphic card/get a higher quality graphic card for this laptop?

And if so are there any particular graphics cards you would recommend for this computer model, Preferably under $200?

Solution
There are no graphics upgrades possible for this laptop. Most consumer laptops have the graphics integrated into either the motherboard or CPU while only high-end gaming laptops tend to have separate graphics chips. Really this isn't a laptop suitable for gaming at all; that CPU is really low end and won't hold up in gaming. You'd need to look for a different (and more expensive) laptop altogether

It's not possible to upgrade that laptop. Even if you could, the CPU is a 1 Ghz dual core, it wouldn't be able to drive it.

Frankly, that laptop is slower than most tablets. The only kind of gaming it's going to be doing in either on facebook or some flash games.
