New build need help. Please power down computer and connect graphics card to pcie.

i just put this thing together. it took me forever watching a million videos and reading the manual a million times. and i get this.......

You also did not explain what you get. You just said you get this.......

the psu has a vga cord amongst other cords. it has a 6pin with a 2 pin hanging off the side, but the gpu has a 8 and a 6 do i need to use the extra cord to have both pluged in?

Yes sir. However many plugs the GPU has, you need to have them all plugged in. My 280x has the same 8 and 6. My 260x only has a 6. And my 7570 doesn't have any lol.

What if your monitor only supports one type of plug?

There ya go. If you wanted to SLI in the future, you would have to have another 8 and 6 pin connector going from the PSU to the second card.

I was referring to the power connections for the GPU. Not the display plugs.
