Neither the HXi nor the TPC series would be on my list, they just aren't competitive at their price points. PcPartPicker has the HXi at 170 and the TPC-750 at 104, it just seems silly to go with either of those when the EVGA G2 is just soooo much cheaper than either of them and well reviewed. The jonnyguru review of the HXi 750 summed it up well "But even so... you're still talking about an awful lot of money just for the pleasure of getting Platinum efficiency."

Go for the G2, its just a better decision

ya that evga G2 is hard to beat with rebate top tier platform is your best bet

Choosing the right PSU is an important decision for the enthusiast because it is the backbone of any system. Buying an inferior, no-frills unit brings with it many consequences – some of which can be catastrophic. I’ve personally read of many stories of various individuals who have been strapped for cash and gone down this route, these cheaper units can often blow and when they do, they will take everything with it. So you may think spending all of your money on the core components like CPU, GPU, motherboard and then very little on the PSU is a good thing – this may change when it goes up in smoke!

A bit vague no?

There are plenty psu's that cost less and are more than capable of powering one such a gpu+system.

well I guess to each his own .. I buy the best build platforms I can and I rarely ever need to buy psu's cause these I get last build after build for years and I don't need to worry that they may fall short in some way along the way

so all you can do other wise is what you feel is best for you

More people read this topic and a lot of them maybe not as experienced as you.To these is that maybe just a horrorstory that convinces them that they need to buy a $100 psu to be safe.Even amongst more expensive psu's are crappy ones.

If you referred to the Psu tier list and gave them the option of looking into that and suggested that they look into tier 2B and up would i be oké with that post, now is it,like i already said, just a kind of horrorstory that scares people from buying maybe good and still not to expensive psu's.

Like you said not everyone has a high budget.

all it took for me was this one psu that popped out of the blue and took my board and card and changed my thinking on all of this so that so called lesser unit ended up costing me twice as a top tire type unit would of in the end or find the unit you went a little cheaper on cant hold to that new upgrade vid card you just got and noe your looking at another psu to run it ???

its like pay me now or pay me more latter --- but as I said its all personal preference on how you go on this
