My brother is suggesting to upgrade his aging desktop, with hopes of using his facebook games with greater fps. Motherboard is DG965OT which has a LGA775 socket and PCI-e 16x slot. CPU options are

Intel Core 2 Duo processor in an LGA775 socket with a 1066 or 800 MHz
system bus
• Intel Pentium D processor in an LGA775 processor socket with an 800 or
533 MHz system bus
• Intel Pentium 4 processor in an LGA775 processor socket with an 800 or
533 MHz system bus
• Intel Celeron D processor in an LGA775 processor socket with a 533 MHz
system bus

I'm not that knowledgeable in which to pick as the options are limited to the LGA775 socket. Hes not looking for superior Crysis on 4 screens gaming, but maybe options for Minecraft and DayZ with a decent GPU. What are some best options for CPU which don't require changing the motherboard?

According to this:

I would suggest a q6600 from eBay, like:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Core-2-Quad-Q6600-PROCESSOR-SLACR-2-4GHz-8M-CACHE-1066-MHz-3070A-/361068868230?pt=CPUs&hash=item541161b286

or:

q6700, like:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Core-2-Quad-Processor-Q6700-8M-Cache-2-66-GHz-1066-MHz-SLACQ-CPU-TESTED-/191370458221?pt=CPUs&hash=item2c8e91746d

Although, I don't think the 0.26ghz is worth the extra $20.

From the compatibility tool there, those are the best CPU's you can get for that mobo.

Note: Just make sure you have the latest BIOS version installed BEFORE changing the CPU, if you decide to upgrade.
