Help for upgrading some PC parts on my rig (300$ budget)

This is my current rig: http://tiny.cc/jnjlnx and my only modifications to it is a 700 watt power supply from a beginners mistake on picking a GPU. I'm looking for a new MOBO that will fit the case and a GPU that can run newer titles on high, all while staying at least under 300$. Any help is welcomed. Thanks

If your budget is $300, your best investment would be to get an R9 280X. In the long run, you're also probably looking at picking up a motherboard AND CPU, likely switching to Intel, and if you can wait the 12 months, there is a fair chance of Skylake hitting around then.

1920x1080 is desirable, I can settle for medium if I can get both parts and stay under $300
