how do i clear a western digital hard drive?

I have a old 160gb hard drive that used to be in my old computer and i want to clear everything off of it.

Put it in your PC. Use Disk Management. Re-format it. Done.

Are you looking to just clear it - or do you want a secure erase (i.e. disposal of the drive or selling the drive)?

i7Baby mentioned how to reformat the drive, which will make the drive appear to be empty. A program like kill disk (free download) http://www.killdisk.com/ will totally wipe the drive making any files unrecoverable.
