I prefer 2x GTX 970 or one if you need gaming
and changing the SSD to Samsung 840 EVO 120GB

If it is a lot cheaper is that crucial ssd fine too,it just misses the extra software that comes with the samsung one.

There's quite a price differenc between these gpu's so see if you can afford the gtx 970's.Maybe start with one if your screen is 1080p@60hrz.
Looked a bit and compared reviews, but, imo, crossfiring the r9 280(X) or 285's isn't worth the money compared to one gtx 970.The r9 285 isn't a good option anyway imo,in the partpicker is a r9 280X cheaper.Even two r9 280's are almost as expensive as one gtx 970.They should outperform it though.
Lowest prices,
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-r9280gaming... (if you still want crossfire for a imo good price look at this one)
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-video-card-04gp40972k...

just some extra info.Look at reviews yourself too.

And yes a very good looking build.:D

This,
http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/mi...
and the cloning software that comes on the cd="data migration tool".

What advantages does this software provide over the crucial exactly?

Did you read what it does? With the crucial would you have to do those settings manually. With the info provided in that link wouldn't that be so hard. There are tutorials about it too.
The software also helps you to update the firmware on the samsung too if necessary. With crucial do you need to download a tool for that, says for windows 7 btw.Maybe with windows 8 do you need to boot from a dvd to get it done.

But how about the problem Samsung have been having with their SSDs? Has this been resolved?

Thanks

It seems that they know what causes it and have a fix i.e. a new firmware asap.According to anandtech around 15/10 or american style 10/15.
