Upgrade for an AMD Radeon HD8570D

Hi,

I have an AMD A8-6600K APU with the above graphics card. I recently bought this gaming PC and my other specs are pretty sufficient - 8GB RAM and 3.9ghz quad core processor.

I've recently began playing Rome 2 Total War, a series which were always too much for my previous PCs. I managed to play on auto detected ultra settings for a while before getting a blue screen due to 'display driver errors'. I tried to troubleshoot this for a long while, in the end settling on it being that my graphics card isn't good enough. (After the first blue screen, they were every few minutes on very high/ultra settings, once in around 20 hours on high with directx9, and none in 30ish hours so far on medium settings at dx9.)

I'd like to know if I can get a big improvement on this graphics card with a budget of between £100-200? If not, how much I would have to spend to see an improvement (for example, to play games like Rome 2 Total War on very high settings)? I have no idea what makes a better graphics card, and the number series confuses me (for example I read that the Radeon HD7850 is a good card, but the number 8570 would suggest to me that mine would be better/later).

I think I'd prefer an AMD card so that I can stick with just the catalyst software, but still open to all suggestions.

Also I presume that being an APU, I can still link my monitor to the new card and the CPU will still work fine? This is my first PC that uses an APU - will it clash with a separate GPU? Can I set the system to automatically use the new card?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, thank you for your quick response! I will check those out. Could you tell me what is much better about the MSI card for example? I've only ever looked at and compared the memory size before, so it would be good to know what I should be looking out for in the future.

As for resolution, I usually play at 1920x1080 although I don't yet have a HD monitor.

The MSI card is better than what? HD8750D?
And memory isn't the only thing to be considered when buying a GPU. Other factors like core clock,Bandwidth,CUDA cores(For Nvidia crads),Pixel filtrate etc. should be also considered. And the easiest way to find which is card fast is benchmarks.

Ok thanks for the advice. Also I should mention that my card is actually 8570 not 8750. I always get those confused, perhaps they are completely different cards?

The 8750 is actually a notebook GPU. And 8570 is an embedded GPU for the A8 APU's.
