Hi guys,

I'm just wondering what would be the minimum PSU that I would need for this system, leaving some room for overclocking.

Gigabyte G1 Gaming Gtx 970
Intel i5 4690k
H100i w/2 SP120 High Performance fans
Corsair 350D with 3 added AF140 fans
Asus Maximus VII Gene
1TB HDD
120GB SSD
8GB DDR3 (2133) RAM
24x DVD Writer

Would something like a 550/580w be enough or should I go for something more like a 650-750w just to be on the safe side?

Thanks in advance.

go for the 650 watt just to be safe, your cpu and other components require some of the power too

Thanks for the (differing) opinions guys, but now I'm not sure which to go with.

Also, would you prefer an XFX PSU or a BeQuiet PSU? In terms of reliability, customer support etc.

And when I say 550-580 I mean good quality Gold PSUs, not the Corsair builder series or anything.

CPU overclocked 100W
GPU - max 240W , according to an article of Toms hardware
add other 150W
-----------
490W max

I actually have heard some negative things about the RM series from someone. Don't know if they're credible or not though. I think the EVGA SuperNova G2 750w is also an option, it's around 6 pound more expensive than a RM550 or a XFX 650W.

i know that HX650 is better but has a higher price . Yes, EVGA 750W G2 is fine and maybe enough for SLI . i am not a fan of SLI/Crossfire thogh If you dont plan SLI , 750W is too much

I think I'll go with the RM650 as it seems to be have a good price/performance ratio. Just one question, do you think if I were to get an RM650, then these cables: http://tinyurl.com/bt6qhj7 would fit?

Yeah, but I want red cables to go along with the theme of my build. I'd rather use replacement cables than just extensions. So I'm wondering if those cables would fit a RM series PSU or not as they're advertised as only being for the HX and TXM series PSUs?

Scratch that, I'm just going to go with the SuperNova 750w G2 as it's virtually the same price as 650w PSUs from other companies and might allow for SLI in the future. I'll just get some extension cables to go along with the build theme. Thanks again for your help :)
