First, repeat this 10 times, "I will back up my recovery key before doing anything to my system"
Second, unless you mess with the reserved partition, or clear TPM, you should be ok. BitLocker can at times be a little persnickity so make sure you have a (preferably several) good, and tested, backup of any data you don't want to lose.
