I achieved 4.6 ghz with my FX 6300 using AMD CPU OverDrive, with stock fan, and the temp reached 70 degrees. I know that this isn't safe at all.
What is a safe max temp for FX6300 to perform perfectly?

65C is considered ideal max temps, but 70C is not bad at all, and with stock cooler, I must ask what is the room temp? Like 15C? As the stock heatsink is not great even for moderate OCing but that OCing temps are great, and safe as well.

Thanks MeteorsRaining :)
Room temp is 24, and believe me last year I had a desktop with 965 and Hyper 212 cooler and the temps 40 without even overclocking it. Now it's 24 and sometimes it's even 17, with the stock fan :)

Your fan is doing some real good job, no issues with temps.

Thanks but that's so weird :)

It is weird because it is wrong. It doesn't report actual temps till 40 C under load. Idle temps are not correct.

That makes sense now.

Load temps are accurate though.

I'm running the overclock again at the moment. Reaching 4.1 and the temps are 62 degrees. I hope AMD OverDrive is really overclocking, at least it would be a good test.

Stress test the system with Prime95. The stress results shouldn't exceed 70C.

Without over clocking it, stable at 50 after 10 to 15 mins. Maybe it is a good thing I haven't put thermal paste :)

The heatsink (stock) comes with it pre-applied.

Now stressing it at 3.9 ghz, reaching 60 degrees after only 5 minutes. Will I damage my cpu if I let itcontinue the test??

Unless it goes 70C+, it'll not do any harm.

After 10 mins on the test. Temp is 63 and max is 73

Do not OC, that is the reason why stock cooler is not for OCing, and that is the reason why I was amazed by seeing your 4.6GHz OC @70C, as they were not stress results. Get an af cooler and then OC.

Thanks I will get cool master 212 evo. This test couldn't have done any damage in 15 mins on 73 degrees right??
