Hi there everyone I've already decided on what I want. I want to build a gaming pc for DOTA 2 ONLY and on high settings as possible.. I've read that dota 2 doesn't require much upgraded stuffs and that makes it perfect for me because my budget is low, around $500-$700 including mouse, keyboard, monitor and OS. Please help me with this, pour me in some knowledge of yours when it comes to this stuffs. This will be a 2-3mos project for me because I'm not gonna buy the materials all at the same time, but i need to decide on what to assemble.

I've got some more questions for you.. which is better intel or amd? regardless of the budget.

And one more, i know you'll laugh at me with this, can I connect to a wireless connection with this self-build pc? because that's the only connection that I have. Sorry about that, I've been living on a pre-built pc since childhood, this is the first time that I'll make a pc myself. Thanks in advance! I really appreciate it..

I'm here in U.S so I don't have much problem on buying these stuffs.

If you record, get a gtx 750ti. Cpu would be a i3 for gaming ,mobo will be like h97 from asrock or msi. Psu will be a 500watt corsair hx, case would be corsair carbide 300r. Ram will be either g skill ripjaw 8gb or coraair vengeance 8gb 1600mhz, hdd will be a wd caviar green 1tb. That should round up there

Monitor , i will go for a cheap asus monitor around 140$, mouse , either razer deathadder or logitech g400s,. Keyboard is up to your budget, if u were to use wireless, u will need to buy an adapter. Windows 8.1 is where its at. U can torrent it if u want

Do you know the exact price of these parts and where can I get this? I'm not lazy to search all of it I'm actually working on it now but there are so many stuffs going on when I search a part. About the torrent is it reliable to get just a torrent copy of an OS? Because that is what we're using before and when you update it from time to time you're screwed.

Corsair does not have an HX500. they only have the CX500 which is not good. It is low quality.

You can get a cheaper 1080p monitor for less than $140.

Also we DO NOT support, condone, or help with torrenting anything. you WILL be banned if you talk about it again.

You do not want the Cx line. They are low quality units with junk capacitors. Stick with antec, XFX, Seasonic for PSUs.

I play DOTA2 on high settings with my 6 year old Core2Duo E4600, 2Gb-DDR3 1333mhz, Geforce 9600 GS(I don't even know how old is this video card)..so anything above this setup should easily run that game. I know someone with an AMD A4+4Gb(no dedicated GPU) running this game smoothly with max-ed out setting and able to multitask(web browsing simultaneously which my C2D can't).

Agreed. For DOTA you don't need a powerful system at all. Something based around a G3258 and a R7 250 should be able to max it.

The only make SOME of the AX, HX, TX lines.

they make none of the junk units.

The CX, RM, CSM, VX, VS lines are to be avoided.

with your set budget I think you can have a nice rig especially holiday season is coming(sales,discounts,promos)..I myself is goin' for a mITx build hopefully be finished within a year. I already have a R7 260X 2Gb and HyperXblu 8Gb(got a bargain for abt 130USD)..and waiting for my 80+ bronze 500W semi-modular powersupply and TP-Link722N usb wifi adapter to arrive(about $80)..

the CPU is still unclear for me..from my research of budget builds, choices are Intel Pentium G3258 and AMD Athlon x4 760k/860k(waiting for reliable benchmarks)..both solid performers but has their own disadvantages. Motherboard comes easily when CPU is decided.

since you have a previous PC you can just put that monitor into your new rig..and save up til you can afford a 1080p or whatever you want..well, that's what I'm doing. You can do that with hard drive as well but better buy 1TB WD blues or Seagate barracuda and forget the trouble of upgrading it. I'd care more about the system unit than the peripherals.

Change the PSU to an XFX 550. The Evga G1 units are low quality and not recommended. I would also get a Pentium and change the GPU to a gtx750ti. This will be better if OP decides he wants to play any other games. RAM is overpriced.

Here is what you should do:

You guys are incredible! I'm really excited about this. Now, I want to buy it all at the same time! But i got to stick to the plan.. Hmmm about the wireless connection guys? Is that a separate piece? I mean the adapter that peeebs told me. And one more thing, can I get some third party response from the said builds? Which is better?

any gamer will suggest cabled connection is the best..but gaming on wifi you have to consider the router and the adapter for your pc.. I don't know what's the best but I'm sure with a mediocre router and adapter, you won't get below 100 ping even on low settings DOTA2. When my TP-Link 722N USB WiFi adapter arrives, I'll let you know how it performs. It's best USB adapter in the cheap-ass category from my research.

Wireless is fine for gaming if you have a stable connection. Ping has little to do with wireless vs. wired. You are incorrect here. Sorry. Ping is how long it takes to get info to and from the server you are connected to.

I game on wireless from time to time and it is no different than wired. No problem with gaming on wireless as far as speed is concerned.

Ive used both wireless and wired. 80ping sith wireless and 16with wired. It may be australias fault for providing bad internet

You were probably connected to two different servers. It could be related to alot of things.

Yes, speed is not a problem for me. We're using this router 2wire 3801HGV so what adapter to buy and where to put it on my future-built pc? Are they pricey? And does it need to be compatible on my router?
