Building A Gaming PC

Hello there internet! I have decided to get myself a new gaming pc, and since I have gotten into a lot of youtube and video editing along with playing while recording, an old macbook pro does not seem to be the greatest option out there. I am planning on buying it for myself for New Year. The Budget is preferably to be around $3,000 USD, but I could go as high as a maximum of $5,000. Since I do move about a lot, (I study abroad) I have to keep my sizes limited to only a small PC case, so I decided to go for a Bitfenix prodigy mini case, recommended to me by a friend of mine. I would like to have a GTX 780Ti, or if that is not an option, a 750Ti along with about 8-16 GB of ram. I have heard that you could potentially fit all of that into this specific case, however I am not so sure about it. It would be great if you could post something along the lines of a pcpartpicker list of components that go together, or just compose a list yourself of what parts you think go best together for a decent great gaming experience for the next few years. Thanks for your contribution and time! It does not have to include the same case or gfx card, those are just some of my preferences, however it does have to be quite small.

Here's what I put together. It isn't the case you wanted, but to fit the video card and it's rad, I had to pick a different case. And yes, the GPU does fit.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($319.99 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H55 57.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($49.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: Asus MAXIMUS VII IMPACT Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard ($223.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: G.Skill Sniper Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($164.98 @ OutletPC)
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($250.98 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 500GB...

Ah yes, sorry forgot to mention. A mouse I probably won't be needing to be included in the price, but I would need 2 monitors and a keyboard along with it too.

Although this does look like a good design which I will take into consideration, the question that is still standing on whether a gtx750/780 ti fit into my current case I suggested. I am pretty new to the whole building of computers as well, but some people led me to believe that the nvidia cards are superior, so could you give me a comparison between the nvidia 750 ( or probably the Titan as seeing the price of the card, I could get that for not much of a price difference). Also, could you please specify the dimensions of this case if it's not too hard, so that I can see if it is portable enough?

Here are the dimensions of the case: 8.94" x 9.72" x 22.72".

Both the 780Ti and 750Ti would fit in your case, but the R9 295X2 outperforms both of those cards by a lot. The 750 and 750Ti is a low end card, while the 780Ti is a high end card, and the R9 295X2 is an extreme card. The R9 295X2 alos outperforms the GTX Titan and Titan Black.

Ah, that is really good to know! I looked up some reviews for the R9 295X2, and it even is a rival to the Titan Z card! However, I did hear that most games are optimised to play with the Nvidia GFX cards, is that true?
Also, I have heard that even though the R9 295X2 is better theoretically, it does not perform so well ( http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-R9-295X2-vs-GeForce-GTX-780-Ti ), is this true?
Thanks for your feedback!

Water-cooling does seem like a tempting choice to make... but I am not sure that I could even go as big as two inches more on the case of the PC I'm making, I really don't know if I would be able to lug around a midtower.

Some games perform betton with Nvidia GPUs, while others perform better with AMD GPUs. With the R9 295X2, however, unless the game doesn't utilize CrossFire, the R9 295X2 will perfrom better tan a 780Ti. As for the GPUboss page, you shouldn't trust that, becasu they don't use real world benchmarks. This chart shows the performance difference between TWO 780Tis and a R9 295X2.

. Here is the 3DMark Fire Strike Extreme benchmarks, and the 780Ti gets just half of what the 295X2 does. You would need 2 way SLI for the 780Ti to get close, and even then it is tied.

Thanks so much! This does sound like a really good choice of parts, and overall looks exactly all that I needed, as it is extremely small and powerful. However, the few final things I wanted to address are, by your opinion, is the case fragile, and if put inside a suitcase would it manage to stay alive during a 3-4hour flight? Also, even though I have seen the build you have shown me on imgur, would the components you ordered definitely fit? And even if they do, would there be enough of an airflow in the PC? Finally, is the gfx card good enough for video editing as well as gaming?

The case is sturdy, but I would put some sort of reinforcement inside the case and around it in your suitcase for the flight, as it can be thrown around a bit. You may be able to have the bag labeled as fragile or something. You could also get a bag for it and bring it on as a carry on, but check with the TSA before you fly to make sure you can fly with if. According to the Imgur build, the components will fit, but I can't make a 100% guarantee, especially with such a small case. I can, however, give you a 99% guarantee. You may not have the space for mounding th SSDs on drive bays, but because they don't have any moving parts, they can be placed anywhere with no mounting system. Airflow would be a potential problem, but with the GPU's rad and fans, and the CPU's rad and fan, you should get decent temps. Finally, the GPU is amazing at both gaming and video editing. As is the CPU. And 16GB of RAM will give you tons of headroom for video editing.

Best answer I have had so far (presuming it's all compatible). Thank you so much for your help, I'll consider this parts list and maybe change a few things due to space issues.
