I try to upgrade my 3-year-old PC so that I can play games like Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor, Assassin 's Creed 4 smoothly in high settings (or just medium settings.) I don't have much a budget, just around 150-200$. Could you please help me? Below are my PC information (may not the exact names since it's been a long time and I'm not sure If I know how to check them correctly)

CPU: Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200 @ 2.5GHz Processor
Motherboard: GA-EP45-UD3L Chipset Intel P45/P43/G45/G43
Memory: XMS2 — 2GB DDR2 Memory (CM2X2048-6400C5)
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series, RV730, 1.0 GB

Thank you

Yo need to replace:
CPU
Motherboard
GPU
Memory

and probably power supply too.

$400 would be a minimum budget and $600 would be a lot better.

i tend to agree. 150-200USD isnt much to use for an upgrade, and thats even assuming a 720p-ish resolution.

granted, your mobo supports the full gamut of Core series cpu's, so throwing a used q6600/q9550/whatever in there (which would be a decent boost) would be possible. although you always take a risk buying used parts.

bare minimum, you need another 2gb of ram.

and a new gpu. holy mother of pete yeah a new gpu

and, chances are, a new psu.

try overclocking your cpu on the stock HSF, thats always a cheap (free) upgrade. then, assuming your psu isnt complete crap, acquire another 2gb stick of ddr2 and something like a gtx750/750ti. that may be enough to make those games run at 720, though will probably be above you 200usd budget, albeit only slightly.

truly, you need a complete system overhaul. cpu/mobo/ram/cpu/psu and probably hdd/case as well

Thank you!

So if I can bump my budget to 400-500$, what should I buy? Can you give me the exact names?

Honestly, should I try to upgrade this old PC or try to follow those "build a gaming PC under 500$" tutorial out there?

In the short run, you may be able to save money by reusing your old case and HDD + keyboard an monitor and you can move your OS to a new computer.
