I was given this adapter and installed it and was working good. Then 1 day and since it loses the connection from the AT&T Wireless router for both TV and internet. The router has been replaced 2 times by AT&T and the adapter loses the connection every so often everyday and when it does,it does several times in a row each hour, and sometimes every few minutes, but the TV isn't affected, but as quickly as it started it stops as quickly.I've downloaded the updated driver from Netgear directly and it still does the same thing.I called Netgear telling a tech the issue and they say it's the router and needs replacing. When it's working I can see the list of available networks in the area.Often I must click to reconnect directly from the list.Even at start up it'll connect then 1 minute or less later,it drops and either automatically restarts or I must click to restart it.I know very little about computers, but I'm learning.Given the issues and specifics I'm hoping someone can answer this. Also,is this considered to be a Wifi Adapter? This is used on a Dell Studio 140g desktop,if it matters. The router is maybe 20 ft. away from the adapter.I also need to buy a Wifi adapter that a laptop would be used with that doesn't have it already built in that covers,as I understand it,3 different bands that's not awfully expensive, yet with very good range hoping to get something used (on a very tight budget). Thanks in advance!!!

Solution
Try changing the wireless channel using your router's configuration utility. Many are set to "Automatic" channel selection, but by switching to manual and choosing a fixed channel between 8 & 12, you often get a much more reliable WiFi connection.
