So for awhile now when I turn on my laptop it says the amd graphics card is not functioning or cannot be detected. Then the catalyst control centre cannot be loaded either. I didn't really care though because I could still play games off of steam. Today I updated the latest drivers for my card and now it says the same thing(cant be detected) but none of my games will load. Any idea why this is occurring?? I'm guessing before I was just running the games without using the graphics card? Anyway my laptop has done this from day one so was it <mod edit> to begin with or can I fix it?

Watch the language.

If you're downloading drivers directly from AMD, this is likely your issue. You should only be downloading them from your laptop manufacturer. Download the latest drivers from your laptop manufacturer and save them to your hard drive. Uninstall the AMD drivers. You may want to use a third party product like CCleaner to clear up any additional leftover files. Reboot and use the manufacturer downloaded drivers to re-install your graphic drivers.

Agree with Wolf here. You'll need to download them from the laptops website. Every driver you update or download has to come from their website. I used to have this problem with my HP Pavilion before and downloading them from the companies website helped fixed the problems I was having.

Oh, and for uninstalling your GPU drivers? You should use DDU.
Use it in safe mode and completely uninstall your drivers and reinstall them from the company's website.
