I have an Acer Aspire V5 that came preloaded with an OEM version of windows 8. The other day it froze while working. I gave it a few minutes, but had to do a hard restart. It started loading windows, then just went to a black screen. After a few minutes of that I restarted it again, and the windows loading screen went to "Diagnosing your PC" then black screen again. Clearly there's something wrong in the boot sequence.

I've tried:

Pressing Alt+F10 during start up to get to the hidden partition with windows recovery. Goes to black screen, and then nothing.

Downloading the windows 8 upgrade from MS to create a bootable USB. I don't have a product ID available, since I can't start the computer to get it. Tried doing the same on another computer with OEM windows 8.1, but the given key didn't work. Tried the generic keys that I found online, and it gets to "connecting to the internet" but it can't connect.

Tried using Rufus to create a bootable USB with an ISO I found of Windows 8 repair disc. This has gotten me the furthest. I got a new screen on my laptop that said:
Boot Configuration Data is missing or corrupted
EFI\Microsife\Boot\BCD
error code:0xc000000f
The problem may be that I con't know what settings to use on rufus.
MBR or GPT partition
BIOS or UEFI
File system (FAT32, NTFS, UDF, or exFAT)
Cluster size

I've been trying different ones, but basically just guessing.

Acer customer support said that I should have made a bootable USB when I first set the system up (fair enough, I wasn't thinking ahead), but they will be happy to sell me one for $44.95. The computer is under warranty, so I can send it back (at my expense) and they will look at it.

I am a broke and busy grad student. I can't go without my computer for the time it takes Acer to fix it, and I would really really rather not buy the repair media. Can anyone help me?

Thanks, USAFRet. That's what I was afraid of. Is there a way to download that from anywhere? I'm willing to pay if I have to, but it will take the better part of a week for my to get the USB.

I have found this website https://neosmart.net/EasyRE/. Does anyone have any experience with them? Will this product be able to fix my problem?

Download would have to come from Acer, so probably not.
No experience with that software you linked.
