Hey guys!

I got an Intel I7 4770 not the 4770k and there is something wierd going on.

My friend has the 4770k and his is only .1ghz faster stock. However he is getting far better performance.

His Windows Experience Index, while this is a horrible way to judge, has his cpu at 7.8 while mine is at 5.1. We both have windows 7.

So more specifically in my UEFI Bios it has my "CPU max speed at 3400mhz" "CPU min speed at 800mhz" and flat out "CPU speed at 800mhz."

I feel like I got shipped a CPU that is in the wrong setting or maybe my motherboard.

My voltage is also a lot lower than his as well his is set at 1.088 and mine is .077.

More about : 4770 speed slow temperature fine

I feel like this is just a matter of increasing my MHZ but I'm not sure how.

What motherboard, memory, SSD, etc.? Your CPU runs at 800MHz because it's idle. It should run at its rated speed when running an application like Prime95 and up to 3.9GHz when only a couple cores are busy. WEI for the CPU is 5.1 or it's what you get for the system? Your friend is getting far better performance on what (other than WEI)?

We both have the z87 sabertooth. we both have 16gigs of 1600mhz ram and we both use crucial mx100 SSD's.

What I think is going on is my cpu is staying in Idle. Somehow it's stuck in Idle and it wont increase at all, ever.

We both use WEI. His is 7.8 mine is 5.1.

I have the 4770 he has the 4770k

5.1 is for the CPU on WEI
7.2 is for the RAM on WEI
7.8 is for everything else on WEI

Check your BIOS settings to see what's different on both systems. Is the CPU temperature at load normal? If the cooler is not mounted correctly, the CPU will throttle and that causes lower performance.
