I am planning on buying a usb-dac, the audioengine d1, which I read positive reviews about, for my computer, so I can have better sound quality. I know how to plug my headphones in it, but I'm not sure if I can plug my speakers? I have a Coby CS-MP77 speakers. I'd like to know how do it and what the outputs on the back of this specific dac are for. And if it's not possible, then what type of dac should I get where I can plug both my headphones and my speakers in it ?

Thanks in advance.

The rear the outputs labled "Analog Output" are RCA left/right connectors.

Ok, so understood that I have to connect my two satellite speakers with the left/right rca cables into the dac. But how do I connect the subwoofer, because the subwoofer connects to my computer through the 3.5 mm jack ? Do I just leave it connected to my computer ?

You don't seem to know how your speakers are hooked up.

We'll do this step by step.

1. From where are your left/right speakers getting signals from?

2. From where is the subwoofer getting signals from?

Nevermind I managed to find a manual that describes the cable layout of your speakers.

The left/right speakers connect to the subwoofer via 3.5mm cables. You can leave them as they are.

The subwoofer connects to the volume control unit via 3.5mm cables. You can also leave that be.

The volume control unit has another 3.5mm socket and that is where the signal is received. Get that RCA to 3.5mm cable I linked above, to connect the DAC to the volume control unit.

My volume control unit does not seem to have a 3.5mm socket, its just a cable where one end connects to the audio input on my subwoofer and the other end (green colored) connects to my PC ??

Leave that as it is.

Is that the socket for audio input? What kind of socket is that?

The green ended part is just a cable that I plug in my computer's headphone jack. Its the other cable that I plug behind my subwoofer where it's written "audio input'. Here look at this image of the volume control unit, maybe it will help:

Ah then you need a cable like this

Connect the female 3.5mm to the green from the volume control unit.

Are you sure that with this setup I wont compromise the audio quality ?

Yes. The 3.5mm audio jack and RCA use the same analog signals.

Alright, I'll try the setup that you've suggested one day and post the results.

Thanks a lot for you help, I really appreciated :)
