I have recently bought an "Icy Dock FlexCage MB975SP-B Tray-Less 5x3.5" in 3x5.25" SATA HDD Cage" for the purpose of fitting and connecting 5 x 3.5" 2TB drives in my server to an "Areca ARC-1220 Raid-Controller".

When I set this up and open de Raid-controllers config page, it only shows that 1 drive is connected (the one in the first slot).

When I connect all drives without the FlexCage, with the same cables, the Raid-controller sees all 5 drives. Needless to say that the FlexCage is causing problems here.

However, I have to place the HDD's somewhere in the case, preferably swappable. I have a total of 5 x 5.25" bays (1 bay with DVD drive which I don't use, and now 3 for the FlexCage). Sadly I spent over €100,- for this FlexCage. Does anyone know how to fix this, or has an alternate solution which doesn't cost me too much money?

I already contacted Icy Dock support for this problem, but I want to view my option in the meantime while they haven't responded yet.

Solved:

This low quality piece of hardware just works bad. I had to push all disks manually further in the bracket before closing the lit. The lit didn't push the HDD onto the connectors good enough. Pretty bad for such an expensive product ....
