i'm trying to help a friend install his computer. I installed ethernet driver from asus website, but now it's just showing a yellow triangle and the internet doesn't work. I tried checking the ip adress and it's just showing 169.254.xxx.xxx and the validate thing just says "access between access point, routeren or cablemodem and internet is canceled" (translated from danish might not be exactly right)

Basically the IP address you have is self assigned in case your computer is unable to get one from DHCP server. So your issue is localized.
#1 Check your network cable make sure you have a link up (indicated by green lights where you plug in the internet cable)
#2 The triangle by the network card drive is an indication the drive installed may not be correct.
As far as the driver goes
Is this an existing PC that you reinstalled OS on?
Did you just built a new PC? (if this is the case, check the motherboard box, there should be a dvd there with all the drivers on it for that particular motherboard and its onboard components).
