I'm not actually planning to overclock soon but I'm wondering what kind of an overclock would be possible on my CPU, and how much would my PSU restrict it before it draws too much power?
Here are my specs:
FX 8350
Cooler master hyper 212 evo
ASUS M5A97 R2.0
Gigabyte R9 270X
XFX Pro 550W PSU

100 watt safety net you want to be looking at after max output. Those few items are possibly pushing 300ishW. How many fans do you have? you can say an average of 5W per 120mm standard fan. Lets say you have an extra 3-4 fans and a 1tb HD and a few items run off USB... Push that figure up to 350Wish then, so 450W would be your safety net PSU. Say if you can get a stable clock of 4.5ghz at 1.4v core and that pushes your total output to 400Wish...

Basically with a small amount of components that PSU shouldn't restrict you at all, even if you tried to push for 5ghz

Thanks! For now I don't plan to overclock because I do not need the extra performance but probably will in future.
