I wanted to upgrade my AM2/AM3 Asus M4A77TD Pro mobo to an AM3+ mobo ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0

So I remove my HD 7850 and Phenom II X3 720 to my old mobo and put it in the Asrock with 2 stick of 4Go mem

I don't plug any hdd, I switch the power on, all the fans works ( cpu, gpu and base ) but no display
and no beep ( my case have no internal speaker )

I thought it was the mobo who was DOA so I used a third one, an asus Extreme 4 and same thing
the fans are OK but no display

I plugged only 1 stick of memory , no change,I tested the memory on my old Asus mobo and it is recognized ok in the Bios and win7

I m using a 5 years old power supply FSP (Fortron) EVEREST 85PLUS 500 and 15 days ago , I noticed like a burned smell when I approached my desk.

I did not think about some pc components burned since my pc is working fine.

I also noticed that Win7 takes much more time to load and shutdown ( like 2 minutes ) than before

Could it be signs that while my PSU still works, but that the power output might not be enough to power up more recent mobo ?

If the burnt smell comes from the psu replace it anyway and see how it goes.

If you upgrade your motherboard you need to reinstall, windows for the best result, you know that?
