I just finished installing windows on a SSD via recovery disk and now that i booted, everything that i downloaded on my HDD is gone and i`m left with a fresh untouched windows. although my HDD (that has all my programs on it) still shows up, its just no longer the C drive and nothing loads from the HDD. this is obviously because windows 8 is trying to get all the info from a empty SSD and not my HDD, what can i do to change this, aside from booting windows from my HDD?
If it helps at all here is a screen cap of my desktop screen now that all my icons and screen savers are gone. (it only looks like this when i boot from my SSD) http://i.imgur.com/Hdi9Pyy.png

Thank you for your help!

cas you use windows explorer and see the document folders on the old hard drive?

If you can you can re-map documents folders to open them
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-nz/windows/redirect-fol...

But you will have to reinstall all your programs to the new install of windows

Your original drive was the HDD
You installed the new OS on the SSD
Which is now the C drive.

Yes, that is exactly what will happen. The new OS knows nothing about whatever lives on the HDD, now "D" drive.

Yes i can see all my files, but will remapping them download them on to the SSD or will it simply shortcut to the file, because if that's the case i may run out of room as it is a relatively small drive (250 gigs)

Your applications should be installed on the SSD. 250GB holds more than you might think. Applications take up relatively little space.
What does suck up space is Music/Video/Games.

The SSD must be large .............

You can simply open the computer file on the old drive , copy EVERYTHING in the folder , and paste it in to the new folder on the SSD .
It will take a while .

Emails you would have to back up , then install the same email program on the SSD and then restore the back up to the new installation

If you re-map the files stay where they are and the links just take you to the old folder
