Hey really quick i was playing rust.
And this has been happening a few times today.
I was in the middle of playing and then rust froze but my audio was still working i waited for a few seconds then cltr alt deleted to see what my cpu was doing then my screen shut of for like 3 seconds and turned back on and it was like nothing ever happend and i kept playing but this keeps happening every time i restart rust and play a new server.

I dont think its my gpu, my temps are like 68c at the highest and my cpu says on core temp that its like 30 c so idk whats up. anythoughts?

Does this Happen in any other Games?
Have you checked the Game site in case this is a Fault with the game and hardware spec?
Can you run the Game in a Window mode?

download furmark and stress test your GPU for about 30 min and see whether you get any restarts or shutdowns .

Appears the Test show all working as intended - which indicates it not behaving bad with other games or intensive GFX based programs

In a Windowed mode does the game Freeze? The reason for this is an error code may have popped and and you could not see it behind a full screen

Checking the Game Website might Reveal that it does not support a GFX card feature that you may need to turn off, that could be causing the issue

It sounds like its selecting a new resolution or extending the resolution past the GFX Card range and hence your issue... Check game Res Setting everywhere, Are you running multiple monitors?

Set Desktop and Game to use same resolution

no im just playing rust at my regular res. Its just rust it seems XD so maybe its just a bug.

Any tips on how to lower my gpu temp? maybe a better case set up? i am in a hot climate atm so like its hard to keep things cool. Im using a third part cooler btw. its better than the stock cooler.

Try Reinstalling the Game may be a Corrupt file or Texture causing the issue

Download MSI after burner and lower the GPU memory and base clock speed by 100 mhz and see if you get the freezes or bsod if you still get the problem down the clock speed by 100 more until you find the sweet spot.

i fixed it , it was a driver issue i completely removed the driver and took everything that had to do with nivdia off my computer then i went in safe mode and wiped the driver with guru3d drive wipe then i cleaned the computer with cc cleaner and restarted, then i installed the second newest driver from nivdia and that seem to fix the issue. my fps on rust is like higher too for some reason.

if there is a buzzing sound then its most likely the card malfunctioning so first of all clean the drivers and reinstall them as blenderbros 1 if the problem still occurs then lower the base and memory clock speed as i have mention in my previous post if the problem is still there or if the problem gets fixed by reducing the clock RMA the card and ask for total replacement.
Also do a memtest for ram.

right okay then and apparently it could be my card overheating as well? should i increase my fan speed.

You can before that check the GPU temps for confirming that its a overheating problem.
