I download HWmonitor and saw that it was telling me that my cpu is around 6c. Knowing this was wrong i downloaded several other programs all giving me similar readings. I powered down and then looked in my bios and it was reading about 28 c after a little bit of gaming. This didnt seem to right to me. When i was in hwmonitor it showed a temp on my motherboard that corresponded with my cpu and it was the correct temp(45c after gaming on it). I was wondering if i could change the temp sensor the fan was using (fan is always at low speed) that is in the cpu to the one that is in the motherboard. Thanks for helping!

. Use your uefi software that came with your motherboard. It'll show correct temps and allow you to control fan speeds.

BIOS temps are always higher as the COU doesn't downclock when in BIOS.

If you have multiple monitoring programs loaded, they can and will interfere with one another. Dump all the others ir at least make sure they are not running, then install HWiNFRO64

You can change how fans respond to CPU temps or even other sensors but those features are motherboard specific, check your manual for what options are available.

Wouldn't matter... BIOS temps are always higher in BIOS and Intel's downclocking features don't apply outside of windows.

Its software. It comes with your motherboard. Or you can download it from your motherboard website.

UEFI isn't software but a type of BIOS, or better said a type of interface or GUI for the BIOS,....all Z87 / Z97 boards have UEFI ( Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) type BIOS. Simple put, it's a GUI or interface that replace the old Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) firmware interface.

Older systems will have the old style interface.
