Hey guys. I am building a new pc (My first build), and I have narrowed it down to one of these cpus but can't seem to tell which one I should get. Some ppl say that the g3258 is better than the 6300 and some say the 6300 beats the pentium

I live an hour from a micro-center so I plan on getting either part from there and ordering the rest of the build online. The g3258 is $60 at MC and the 6300 is $105 with mobo combo. I plan on buying a mobo for the pentium from ebay for cheaper than store prices, so the price of the mobo and the pentium will probably match or will be cheaper then the 6300 combo.

I don't really care for which offers a better upgrade path, I would be fine with either i5,i7 or 8350, I just wanna know which one I should get?

PS: I will be doing some video editing with PD9 and I plan on playing some of the modern games. I have never oc before so I don't know much about that...

More about : 6300 pentium g3258

The FX 6300 will utterly smash the pentium EVERYWHERE

AMD overclocking is easy using their own software . Overdrive .
Make sure you get a motherboard with a 970 series chipset [ just not an MSI one ]

The FX is a clear winner here , I agree with Outlander.

The one Microcenter gives is utter crap , wouldn't really recommend it.

A good and a cheap alternative is the Gigabyte GA970-UD3P.

Bare in mind he's already purchased some of the parts , like the GPU for example.

I hacked into your brain and knew everything ;)

I am no genius , you stated in a previous thread and Topluca pretty much tried to tell you about better parts just like what Outlander tried to do.

Its a 4+1 Design , not going to do much with overclocking.

The 970 UD3P from gigabyte is 8+2 power phase design , much better.

It's also $84...I'll buy this board in the near future. For now I just want something that will run WoW, Battlefield series and video edit, when I read up on my oc then I'll jump and get that board. I plan to be done buying parts within a month. Thanks
