I have been building AMD based systems for myself for years, price/performance was the reason for this.

My next build is going to be a budget gaming rig, and we want to put it together in steps, using the on-board graphics until we purchase a 270x card for it. We are planning on using the G3258 for this build.

I am looking for a specific board recommendation for this build. I want to keep the price down, and have been looking through a lot of threads, but do not understand exactly what I need. I would like keep the cost down on the MB to put into other items, and buying a $100+ MB seems to negate the fact this CPU is inexpensive and would push me back over to AMD. I have read that I needed a Z series board to OC with, but other threads suggest otherwise.

Please advise.

MSI Z97-G43. That guy right there broke records with a stock cooler. Go for that, you won't regret it.

I am not looking to break records, and would like really like to keep the cost of the MB below $100. Otherwise, I would probably just go with an AMD solution. Isn't there something more cost effective?

Go for MSI Guard Pro, it is 110 dollars and it is really good.

Maybe my question is misunderstood, I am looking to see what I can get away with, not the top performing board. I only NEED it to support a 270x, not overly prone to failure, and overclocking. I can use the saved money other places.

Would this one work?
