I built my computer a couple weeks ago. Specs:
i5-4590
Hyper 212 Evo
R9 280x Sapphire Dual-X
XFX 550 watt bronze certified PSU
Motherboard: ASrock H81m-hds
Ram:8gb
Case: Phantom 410 with 6 case fans in all.

I use MSI afterburner on auto. Just recently I noticed when playing some games like Assassin's Creed 4 there is a small buzzing noise, almost like a purring noise. And it goes in and out like purr for 2 seconds stop for 2 seconds. So I removed the side panel while in-game and found out it was coming from the graphics card. When I push up a little so the graphics card is more level it goes away. Then when I take my hand away it lowers a little and the noise comes back. I notice this usually happens around 45% fan speed on MSI afterburner. I don't overclock. Why does this happen? Is it a faulty card? On idle there is no noise. Thanks

I actually experienced something very similar with my second R9-280. While I'd play Blacklight: Retribution, and only during that game would I hear a mild buzzing noise. All temps were actually more than good, and I was just about to RMA when the problem ironically vanished.

Of course we are talking two different gpu's and brands.
