So, looking for some thoughts on whether I'll get much better performance than I do today with some upgrades.

My setup (going on 3 years old) currently looks like this;

i7-2600k
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO cooler
P8Z68V-Pro (not gen 3)
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1600
Asus BC-12B1ST BluRay drive
1TB Western Digital WD Black WD1002FAEX
1TB Western Digital WD Green WD100EARS
Asus HD 5770 CuCore 1GB
700W OCZ GameXStream (overkill for this rig I know)
All of this is sitting in an older Antec Sonata II case.
and my primary display is a Samsung Series 7 S24B750V LED. (I do have a second screen but basically it has been attached to an IPTV box so never use it with my PC).

OS is windows 7 Pro 64. I do have Windows 8 available, but have so far chosen not to "upgrade".

Was hoping to get some opinions on what I would get best ban for buck from upgrading at this point. I've been mostly considering SSD and new GPU as I believe these to be my two bottlenecks. But am on the fence about doing one, the other or both. Keeping in mind I'm in Canada for pricing purposes.

SSD I've been eyeing is Crucial M550 256gb Sata (@153 CDN) this is 10-20% cheaper than a Samsung 840 pro, so it seems like the way to go.

Video Cards I've kind of narrowed down to an Club3d 14 series R9 270x looking like my best bet @ 180 CDN, but for an extra $20 I can get an R9 280.

I don't think adding another 8GB ram at this point is worth the investment. I almost wish I had spend the extra $45 a few years ago. It'd cost me 90 to add another 2 sticks of 4gb now.

I primarily play games like Skyrim, SC2, Xcom, Crusader Kings 2 and Civ 5. I'm likely to pick up a few newer games in the next few months (Dragon Age inquisition and Beyond Earth are the top of the list)

Would appreciate any feedback. Not sure if it would be worthwhile to spring for a 512gb SSD rather than a 256 and a video card for example.

So you'd say an r9 280 wouldn't be an appreciable difference over the 270x?
