Id go for a better quality PSU.

Maybe go for 16GB ram now and not need to upgrade later. I have seena few articles say it doesn't always work as fast as it should if you have two different ram kits in a system.

OP, the CX series uses poor capacitors. Get an XFX or Seasonic power supply.

Scoop up another £25-30 and get a GTX 970 - much better than the 280x.

I was thinking of changing the GPU to either a GTX770 or the GTX970 not sure the diffence. Also I only have one screen, that aint gonna change for a while.

hadn't considered power supply too much. thnks

RAM - go big or go home as they say

any ideas on a decent gaming mouse! ive always been a logitech fan....and i'd want a wired one M700 perhaps

The GTX 970 is much faster and much better choice than the GTX 770. You can check the review here http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/nvidia-geforce-gtx-980-97... and see how the cards compare in different games.

Despite you planing to only play on 1 screen games are getting more and more demanding and a GTX 970 will serve you much longer than a GTX 770.

About power supplies you can check the list posted here and decide for yourself what to buy. http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1804779/power-su...
