In the past month or so I have been dealing with power issues. First my computer would turn on then after 30 minutes or so it would turn off without any warning (no bsod). When u would go to turn it back on I had to flip the switch on the psu to off then back on and the. It would turn back on and after a while it would do the same thing. Now today it did the same thing as usual but now it will not power on what so ever. Another thing to note, I brought it in to get it diagnosed and they couldn't get it to power down. Could this be a psu issue? The reason I think it is is because I had them check all the peripherals and they found no problems. It ran fur mark over night and didn't shutdown. Thanks in advanced for the response. Specs - 1090t amd, gigabyte 990ga-ud3h, 1 tb western digital hd, Radeon 6970, 16gb 1866 MHz corsair ram, 700 watt ocz power supply.

Solution
Yeah fans should be fine, but i was referring to the fan of the psu itself when saying that it should run.Just don't have it connected to the mobo, hdd's and such.
This is most often an overheating problem. Look inside the case, maybe the cpu heatsink is dusty? use an air duster can to blow away dust or even vacuum. Has solved many people's issues.
Go into BIOS for a while, see if the temperatures are high, if so, you need dusting, or even changing the thermal paste. if that doesn't change temps, you might want to consider a better cooler like a hyper 212 EVO
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($28.99 @ Micro Center)
Budget friendly and capable of withstanding basic overclocking too

I have the hyper 212 and I have re applied thermal paste arctic silver 5 nothing in the case is overly dusty my cpu doesn't go over 70 Celsius. I thought it was a overheating issue but it's not I have tested both gpu and cpu neither are running hot.

Oh and I forgot to mention the power supply is a oczgxs700 I haven't been able to get much info on it. I know they aren't known for producing great power supplies and that is another reason why i think it's my psu.

If you,on the psu, connect the green and a black wire on the 24pin,does the fan spin? You can do this by using a paperclip or something like that.Disconnect the other parts before you do this.
It's quite an older one type so could be the source of the problems.

I'll try this when I get back from class. The thing about this problem is the fact that I can not turn my computer on for a couple days and the computer will last a while. When I get to about the 8 hour mark it shuts off and has a really tough time powering back on if I don't wait atleast a couple hours. Thanks for the reply.

I was actually planning on getting a power supply anyways because like you said it's pretty old. I had a corsair that was doa and the place that figured that out installed this unit. Who knows if it was a refurbished part then. Should be ordering one on the next pay check I've heard good things from the 750 watt fully modular evgas. Any advice on one around that same power?

I've been going through pcpartpicker and they seem to find the best deals through all sources. I'm in the range of 100 to 120 usd. The psu I have currently isn't fully modular and I really want to have one that is. I know seasonic is good as well. I have just never heard bad things about evga.
