Hello,

I recently installed a new graphics card on my HP Pavillion e9280t with a GEForce GTX 660 DirectCu II OC. After installing it a couple months it worked fine, but then all of a sudden, it kept on restarting and shutting down my computer randomly.

Here is what I have done to it and failed:
1) Uninstalled the update
2) Re-installed the old graphics card
3) Installed the old/new graphics card into the other slot
4) I have restored the computer to factory settings

Doing all the examples below has kept restarting and shutting down my computer not making it to the Windows login screen.

I don't know what the problem is now. Hopefully someone can help me with this.

Thank you.

GeForce recommends minimum 450w PSU for the GTX 660.

The factory-fitted 460w unit may be failing, it will also not be very good quality anyway, making it less reliable and more prone to failure with a modern graphics card on board.

Factory-fitted PSUs are typically just powerful enough for the standard hardware as shipped, with very little power left in reserve for upgrades. My guess is it's managed to handle your new card for a while, but the added strain has finally taken it's toll.

Hello Phillip,

Thank you for answering my questions. So I assume that I need a new PSU?

So here's an update. I purchased a 750w PSU and connected all of them to the required slots. Turned it on, worked fine for a couple minutes, then when it got to the windows loading screen, it restarted. I'm hoping someone ran to the same solution as I have in the past. If someone could be able to help me with this that would be great!
