This is my build: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/maxarini/saved/TKRgXL

My monitor is the Asus VG248QE and it is 144 Hz. For some reason I can not go past 60 Hz.

What can I do?

By answering you are really helping me a lot.

I tried it and none of it helped me. I just thought of something though. I currently do not have a GPU and am running on integrated graphics ( Intel HD graphics 4600). Does this cap my fps at 60?

Your motherboard specifies: "Supports DVI-D with max. resolution 1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz", and from what I've read on the Intel site, HD 4600 doesn't support dual link DVI-D (which you need for the higher refresh rate), so yes, the integrated graphics is almost certainly your issue, and what is preventing you from getting higher than 60 Hz.

If the motherboard had a displayport output you might have been able to get 144Hz with that, but sadly that particular motherboard doesn't, so I guess you'll have to wait until you get a graphics card.

Thank you! So just to clarify, as soon as I get my graphics card I will be able to get 144 Hz?

Oh yes, you'll definitely be able to get your monitor running at 144 Hz with that! Just use either the dual link DVI or display port output on the card, and you should be good to go.

When I ran my VG48 on IG, I never bothered to check whether 144 Hz was available.e
