I have $800 to spend on a new graphics card I want the best most power I can get for that amount. I'll be playing at 1080 and 1440p and maybe 4k in the future.or should I wait for say the 980ti or something like that Let me know your recommendation. Thanks

No.
The cheapest model starts at $900. You can get two GTX970's for $700. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-gtx970gaming4g
(R9-295x2) http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/video-card/#c=169&sort=a8

Other points:
1) Card puts out a lot more HEAT than the new Maxwell cards
2) Performance is similar once the GTX970's are overclocked
3) "runt" issue still not fixed for DX9 crossfire (causing perceived 30FPS instead of 60FPS)
4) GTX970/980 cards have several new features
http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-970/features

MFAA, DFR, H.265 encoder, 4K, VXGI support.

*If MFAA...
It's impossible to comment on the value of a FUTURE card now isn't it?

The best value for your money would be to get TWO GTX970's and run SLI. I recommend the MSI TwinFrozr versions.

Even a single GTX970 is going to play most games at max settings at 1080p and manage 60FPS. A single GTX980 is only about 15% faster on average but a lot more money.
Asus Strix version showing average performance:

You'd need:
a) SLI supported motherboard
b) sufficient power supply (minimum 750W recommended)

Other:
sufficient CPU to prevent any major bottlenecks (i5-3xxx or i5-4xxx; preferably a "K" version at 4.2GHz or better)

*If MFAA works as advertised (waiting for driver update) we'll get 4xMSAA at the same cost as 2xMSAA which simply translates into higher frame rates of up to 30% according to NVidia.

**The NVidia 970's can throttle down to be completely SILENT as well by turning off the fans. The R9-295x2 will always have a fan and pump running.
