I am willing to overclock it as high as possible, and I have the cooling necessary to do it. Curious about the possible bottleneck in games like battlefield 4, Skyrim, BioShock infinite, total war Rome 2, assassin's creed 3 and 4, etc. I just bought all the parts and am waiting on the 980 to come in, and started looking in to possible bottlenecking. Anyone got any help?

yes it probably will bottleneck on games that are platform bound, like BF4. The 760k doesn't have an L3 cache, which hurts big time in games, and despite its overclockability, still wouldn't be able to keep up with what the 980 can push out. you would probably see more spikes in lag than anything else, with your minimum framerate going lower and your average going lower as a result. you really want a nice intel quad core chip to not bottleneck the gtx 980.

Thank you very much! Out of curiosities sake, which one would you recommend? Im trying to balance everything out, and finding an Intel motherboard that has pcie 3.0 and ddr3 2400 is proving to be quite a pain, any suggestions?

It will defiantly bottleneck. That's like asking if you could fuse a Shat castle with a Golden Palace...No you cannot. The best low budget cpu you can pair with the 980 is a AMD FX 6300, at minimum i'd say. idk about intel tho :D

an i5 4590 and an asus or gigabyte h97 motherboard would be great if you dont want to overclock. if you never plan on going SLI you could get a micro atx board and a small case. if you want overclocking and expansion options in the future, go with an i5 4690k (unlocked) for overclocking on the ASUS Z97AR (Has 2 PCI-E 3.0 lanes for SLI). You can pick both up really cheap if you have a microcenter near by, if only newegg, the ASUS Z97-A also has dual PCI-E 3.0 lanes.

So... get i5 4690K, ASUS Z97-A motherboard, G.SKILL Ripjaws 8gb (2x4gb) DDR3 2400 Cas 10. That would be epic.
