Hi . I'm in the process of selecting parts for my new build and the situation I am pondering upon regarding the assembly of parts atm is as follows :
º Given that the i5-4690K when bought comes with it's own stock cooler would it be necessary for me to adquire an aftermarket cooler , such as the 212 EVO , or will I be safe without one ?
I plan on using the computer for some casual gaming on some fairly heavy games (as I do like to go for top settings ) and also some moderate workload , mostly on Adobe programs . With both is implied that when doing either I will be using the computer for several hours straight . Hence my consern .
I appreciate any knowledge/help you can provide , thank you in advance .

P.S: As I am building this on a modest budget I don't intend to spend any on unnecessary parts - with that said the acquisition of said cooler would not impose a problem as I had thought of acquiring it previosly .

If you intend to overclock, or run a CPU-intensive benchmark such as Prime95, you should get an aftermarket cooler.

Stock cooler will be fine if you don't plan on over clocking and have same flawless case airflow. I would still strongly recommend the Hyper 212 Evo considering it's one of the best and universal CPU Coolers at a steal price!

If you don't plan on overclocking, save yourself some money and go with a I5 4460. Even if you do plan on overclocking, I'd still opt for a locked i5 if you're on a tight budget. Very similar performance.

Yeah. You wouldn'y even notice a performance difference to be honest

To be honest i have never over-clocked any system and i probably won't be starting any time soon
Anyway , thank you so much for the insights .

@Shamar Holtz - that was actually the EVO cooler i meant ahah
also to @ RazerZ i had no ideia they'd be so similar , that might actually save me quite some amount .
Thanks again .

No problem. If you gave me a budget and requirements I'd be happy to link a build for you. If you click my sig there's a link on how to ask for a build. If you filled that out and posted back, that'd be nice, or if you wanted to do a short summary that would work as well.

I'm off for today, but I can post back tomorrow.
